Unconventional Rifle Positions

Topics Covered

  • Intro/explanation of class (Functional Skillset of a rifleman)/meet and greet.

  • This is a discovery learning class to a large extent where you will, based on your body mechanics, weapon setup, and several other factors, figure out what works for you when it comes to doing the things we don’t like to practice or don’t get a chance to practice or don’t know how. I will demonstrate, then we will talk through and work through these various unconventional positions. I will give you some tips and describe the nuances of the positions. So, limber up, and drink some water.

  • Safety/Medical/CasEvac plan/designate safe weapon handling areas.

  • Loadout-Full Magazines (ammo management is on the student)

  • Talk briefly about sling manipulation.

  • There is a fair amount of physicality and flexibility required for this block of instruction so eat your Wheaties and limber up folks. We won’t be running wind sprints but there will be a good amount of up and down and gun maneuvers which will get heavy after a few hours.

  • This is not a basic level rifle course of instruction, please have a basic understanding of how to safely manipulate, load and unload your rifle and perform ready ups.

  • Major safely violations will not be tolerated, and students may be asked to leave if they cannot follow instruction or safe handling of firearms.
