DarkLab

Description, DarkLab is an open enrollment class. This class will provide you with the knowledge to become a more proficient NightFighter. This class focuses on increasing the students’ night vision skillsets during real world operations through lecture and range evolutions. Students will conduct a variety of evolutions that can range from solo and static, to partner-based and kinetic.

This is not a beginner night vision or firearms class. You will be asked to perform to a level of personal failure, safely. It is important to push yourself to establish your left and right “goal posts” to have a better understanding of your level of proficiency.

Prerequisites

  • A vetted rifle and pistol course from a reputable instructor. 

  • A vetted Night Vision course from a reputable instructor.

  • Competent gun handling and shooting skills are a must. 

  • No exceptions.

Topics Covered Include

  • Shooting on the move

  • Shooting while using cover and concealment

  • Shooting on and around obstacles

  • Expedient movement under NODs

  • No Light Reloads

  • Positive identification and threat assessment

  • Active and Passive Shooting

  • Problem solving in a 360° environment

  • Limited visibility weapon manipulation

  • Non-Verbal Communication

Equipment List

  • Good Attitude

  • Nightfighting Rifle (Optic, White Light, IR Laser/Illuminator, Sling) and 800 rounds of ammunition

  • Nightfighting Pistol (Weapon Light, Red Dot Optic) and 200 rounds of quality training ammunition.

  • 5 Rifle Magazines

  • 3 Pistol Magazines

  • Helmet with NV Mount

  • Night Vision (Dual or Single Tube Systems)

  • Clear Eye Protection

  • Electronic Hearing Protection. No Exceptions.

  • Spare Batteries

  • Handheld Flashlight

  • IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) Tourniquet at a minimum. No

  • Plate Carrier, Chest Rig (Although optional you will need a way to have 5 rifle mags on your person.

  • Knee Pro (optional)

  • Liquids and Solids (food and hydration materials)

  • Bug spray as needed

  • Rain gear as needed

  • Notebook/pen

  • Cleaning kit with lube
