BASIC SWAT

Basic SWAT is a 5-day (45-hour) foundational tactical training course designed for active-duty law enforcement officers currently assigned to SWAT or tactical response teams. This intensive program covers high-risk warrant service, barricade resolution, hostage rescue, and building-clearing tactics. Students will enhance their individual and team-based operational skills through live fire, breaching, and structure-based drills. To enroll, participants must be verified by their agency and meet firearms qualification requirements. Upon successful completion, graduates will earn certification as entry-level SWAT Operators. This course includes hands-on instruction, practical assessments, and mission-ready training for real-world tactical environments.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Basic SWAT is designed for active-duty law enforcement officers assigned to a tactical team or units that are tasked with executing high risk warrant service, barricade resolution and hostage rescue. This class will cover the basic knowledge required for members of tactical teams and lay a foundation of tactical movement in the team environment. All students will be required to meet the following prerequisite prior to acceptance, Proof of these will be mandatory:

The student must submit a letter on department letterhead from their respective team leader or commander confirming the following:

  1. The student is currently assigned to a tactical response team or unit tasked with conducting tactical operations. 

  2. The student has qualified with a minimum score of 90% on the Georgia State Firearms Qualification or established team qualification on all weapons platforms assigned. 

This course is tailored for team-based armed professionals who already have a solid foundation in firearms handling and decision-making abilities. Basic SWAT focuses on implementing and enhancing individual operator skills for domestic law enforcement operations in the tactical environment.

Students must pass by demonstrating both individual and team-based practical skills learned throughout the course. Upon completion of the course and passing the skills assessment, students will receive a certificate certifying them as an entry level SWAT Operator.

  • 4 Primary Weapon Mags and 3

Secondary Weapon Mags

  • 250 Rounds of Primary Ammo

  • 250 Rounds of Secondary Ammo

  • Minimum 200 rounds of NLTA Ammo

(SIMs/UTM)

  • Conversion bolt for NLTA

  • Flashlight (Non-Weapon Mounted and Weapon Mounted)

  • IFAK

  • NLTA / Sims / Airsoft (Rifle and/or Pistol)

  • Expired Less-Lethal Chemical Munitions.

  • NFDD (One per participating agency if sending multiple students)

HOSTING AGENCY REQUIREMENTS

(Items below marked with (*) are mandatory minimum requirements)

CLASSROOM - preferably same location as live fire range/shoot house 

  • *Seating for up to 25 students with tables 

  • *Dry Erase Board and markers 

  • *Access to Printer/Copier 

AUDIO / VISUAL 

  • *Projector for Lecture/PowerPoint 

  • *HDMI/AV cables for laptop 

  • *Adequate Speakers for audio in presentation  

TRAINING AREAS 

  • *Live Fire Range capable of accommodating at least 10 shooters simultaneously 

  • *Target Stands + Backers, Steel Targets, Barrels, Cones, Barricades. Vehicles if possible 

  • NLTA / Airsoft Training Locations or Live Fire Shoot House 

  • *Access to building(s) for tactics training (multiple location preferred)

  • Access to Building with stairs and/or multiple floors

  • Distraction/diversion devices, areas to support use

  • Doors and windows, breaching and porting (Contact us if you have questions or need specifics) 

EQUIPMENT – (Minimum need from host agency, additional equipment list for students below) 

  • Ballistic Shields 

  • Breaching Equipment (Mechanical, Hydraulic, Thermal and/or Ballistic)
